North East Law Centre Drop in

The Legal Advice Drop In Service is a city-wide service in Newcastle.

The Service shall deliver accessible, high-quality legal support services primarily focused on Family Law.

The service shall include one-off legal advice on issues such as the below non-exhaustive list.

• Divorce,
• Dissolution of civil partnerships,
• Maintenance,
• Disputes involving children
• Mediation options.

The Provider shall also offer advice and guidance to individuals experiencing domestic abuse, including information on legal remedies (e.g., prohibitive orders) and available support services. Where additional legal issues are identified, the Provider shall ensure clients are appropriately informed and signposted to relevant services, including legal aid providers.

Casework may be undertaken only in exceptional circumstances, such as for clients identified as extremely vulnerable.

Confirmation of advice shall be provided in writing (email or letter) as appropriate.

Representation in legal proceedings is not within the scope of this service.

There shall be no charge to individuals accessing this legal advice and guidance.
