Here are some groups and courses for parents and carers in Newcastle. If you see one that is right for you, please contact your nearest family hub. They can tell you more and let you know when it starts.

You can also ask for a place using our enquiry form. We also use this form if families need more support, so don't worry if some questions do not apply to you. We will contact you if we need any more information.

Support for families with young children

Togetherness: Understanding your baby

For parents and carers welcoming a new baby. Learn about your baby's development, their emotions and how they communicate. You'll also learn practical tips about sleep and feeding.

One session a week for 6 weeks.

Little Minds in Mind

Support for parents and carers to build a strong connection with their baby during pregnancy or after birth. The service is friendly, supportive and can change to meet your family's needs.

Young parents groups

Meet other parents who are under 21, enjoy activities together, and get friendly help, advice and support.

10am-11am: Baby and You (with your baby or toddler)
12pm-1.30pm: Prepare for Baby (during pregnancy)
Tuesdays at the Nunsmoor Centre

Early words together

For parents, carers and children aged 2 to 4 years. Enjoy fun activities together which support your child to talk more and encourage a love of reading.

Once a week for 5 or 6 weeks.

HENRY Programme

For parents and carers of children under 5. Find out more about healthy eating for your family, getting active and creating positive routines.

HENRY is a 2‑hour workshop or an 8‑week course.

Incredible Years: Autism

For parents and carers of children aged 2 to 5 years. Learn practical ways to support behaviour, communication, development and daily routines. You can meet other families with similar experiences.

Once a week for 14 weeks.

Support for families with school age children

Decider Skills

Learn practical skills to understand thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Build confidence, manage emotions and develop strategies to cope with stress and everyday challenges.

Once a week for 6 weeks

Ways to Wellbeing

Workshops for parents and carers about children's mental health and wellbeing. Topics include anxiety, school worries, self-care and understanding how children's brains develop.

1 hour workshops.

ROSES - Brighter Futures

For survivors of domestic abuse and their children aged 5 to 16. Explore how domestic abuse can affect children and learn practical ways to support their feelings, behaviour and wellbeing.

The group runs once a week for 8 weeks.

Support for all ages

Togetherness: Understanding your child

For parents and carers of children aged 9 months to 19 years. Learn about child development, behaviour, communication and emotions. You will get practical ideas to support your child as they grow.

One session a week for 10 weeks.

Family Club

A chance for families to spend quality time together in a welcoming and supportive environment. Enjoy activities, games, crafts and a hot meal while connecting with other local families.

Once a week for 6 weeks.
