About us
Oak Training was founded in September 2008 by Mark Grant and John Clark whose aspiration was to provide intense training courses for students that struggle to reach their educational potential, the central focus of Oak Training is to deliver an interactive and accessible programme which aims to ensure that students achieve to the best of their ability and make a positive progression.
Our goal is to inspire young people and their desire to be life-long learners. Our moto is Believing in Achievement.
To meet contractual requirements Oak Training provides designated staff member/s to facilitate the learning process that will be based across Northumberland in our training centres with a view to establish a specific centre in Newcastle within the next academic year. Our sites which have been facilitating our vision for many years ensures that every child should be able to access safe education.
Our current site in Blyth allows us to deliver education to our placements with immediate effect.

Impact, Outcomes and Key Performance Indicators
All of our Year 11 students that have left our centres over the past 2 years have achieved up to 4 recognised qualifications from the list above. Our vocational curriculum offer will increase from September 2024 to include Health and Social Care, Travel and Tourism and ICT. By increasing our vocational curriculum offer we hope student will engage better in areas that may have a specific interest which will aid a positive progression.
How to Access?
Oak Training understand the process in which the council must place a student within a set period of time. We pride ourselves in having a positive working relationship with all and if our capacity allows, we will always welcome a new student to start at one of our sites. We do insist on a meeting with the student and parent/guardian in person prior to any placement commencing so that they can get a better understanding of what we offer and what can be expected when on placement with us.
We have in the past taken students on a short-term basis to support local schools, local authorities and students. This has developed into a long-term placement or remained short term to allow a more suitable placement for the student to be found.
To access a placement all correspondence should go through Mark Grant, mgrant@oak-training.co.uk and Jonny Fay, jfay@oak-training.co.uk
