About us
Academic and social growth is achieved by the key worker being present all times, including breaks, break out times, in group classes and in 1-1 sessions. They support their learning, encourage them to try new things, and provide them with a safe environment where they can feel heard and valued and achieve their own individual goals. As the founder of Teacher-me, I feel this is what makes us so unique, so different and invaluable as a service.
Impact, Outcomes and Key Performance Indicators
At Teacher-me, we are fortunate to be able to offer our pupils a bespoke education, planned with the individual child in mind. We encourage the children to complete the ‘Three houses approach’ activity with their key worker. We help the child assess these goals with a plan do review form weekly. We do this to encourage them to take control of their own learning experience, to feel empowered promoting an ‘I Can’ attitude. We also complete a social and emotional form every 6 weeks to assess emotional regulation, attitudes and peer relationships. Every child's learning plan is, of course, unique. We believe that it is vital to support the development of a positive attitude and, when appropriate, to provide opportunities to work with others of a similar age. Assessments are sent half termly to local LEA and relevant parties.
How to access?
At Teacher-me we can provide in-person or online learning. In person learning can be at one of our Teacher-me PHASE hubs in Benton or Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne or we can come to your home. Often a child who has been out of education for long periods of time can be very anxious to attend our hub. They can be visited at home by their key worker to begin to establish trust and start their learning journey with us. This may last for weeks, months or even years as we appreciate every child progresses socially and emotionally at a different pace. When a child is ready to attend the hub, they will attend with their key worker and we have community rooms set aside for parents who wish you remain on site.
How we deliver
Our structure can be adapted to suit the needs of the individual learner. At our hubs we can provide one-to-one and group sessions where children feel both listened to and accepted, exploring new experiences in a safe environment. We also have a forest school area for children to use, and a workshop for children who want to learn to broaden their building and craft skills. The hub is a quiet and calm place and we have key workers who are specialists in many interests including art, music, dance, makaton, horse riding, swimming and forest school. We also have access to beautiful outdoor areas, trampolines, sensory rooms, soft play, therapy dogs and a hall with breakout areas.
As the founder of Teacher-Me, I feel so very privileged to run this provision where we see our children grow, thrive, make transitions, understand the needs of others and feel part of the community once again. We very much hope we can continue to do this and offer more children these opportunities moving forwards.
How we report attendance
We record attendance daily and report back to the council half-termly.
