Canning Street Primary School

Canning Street is a unique school situated in the inner-west of Newcastle and draws children from Benwell, Elswick and West City. Our vibrant, modern school is at the heart of the local community and is often referred to as being “an oasis”.

The school serves a very diverse population comprising a wide range of ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds. This area of the city is well-served by a range of community support groups and services. The school works in close partnership with these groups and has excellent relationships with the Local Authority, voluntary and emergency services. Canning Street is also part of the West End Schools' Trust (WEST), a charitable company of eight primary schools and partner organisations located in the inner west of the city of Newcastle upon Tyne.
