Parks SEND Local Offer

Newcastle is home to many fantastic parks. Explore our wonderful green spaces filled with trees and nature. Children and young people can enjoy our play areas. Some even have free tennis, football, and basketball courts.

You may be interested in wheelchair friendly roundabouts for children to play on. You can find them in the play areas at:

  • Exhibition Park
  • Heaton Park
  • Kingston Park West 

Did you know?

You will need to request an annual pass to get into the tennis courts in Newcastle's parks. The good news is that children and those with disabilities get discounts. Take a look at which parks have tennis courts.

Jesmond Dene

A beautiful green space that runs along the River Ouseburn. The footpaths beside the river are wheelchair friendly. It is also home to Pets Corner which is free to enter. Discover different animals including pigs, sheep, goats, and birds.

Leazes Park

A traditional Victorian park in the centre of Newcastle. It has a large lake with wildlife including birds and fish. Beside the lake is The Tower Cafe. There is also an accessible toilet.

Gosforth Central Park

An accessible park in the north of Newcastle. The park has a large play area that is perfect for children. Besides it is Gosforth Shopping Centre. It has a car park, toilets, and a disabled toilet accessible with a RADAR key.
