How to commission services 

Schools are responsible for commissioning any Alternative Provision or Tuition placements for pupils on their roll. The Framework Specification (appendix 2) outlines what is expected of a provider. Schools can use this as a basis for their own specification with providers, using the school’s own terms and conditions to form the contract. 

The school commissioning the placement should maintain on-going contact with the provider and pupil, with clear procedures in place to exchange information, monitor progress and provide pastoral support. 

It is the commissioning school’s responsibility to make arrangements in regard to payments to providers.
