Kinship Zone Pilot

Newcastle has been chosen as a Kinship Zone Pilot area.  We are one of seven councils taking part.  

The pilot will support up to 5,000 families across the seven Kinship Zones.   Newcastle has been given funding from the Department of Education (DfE) to:

  • Give more financial support to Kinship Carers -  Kinship Allowance 
  • Support wider family networks to help children stay safely at home - Family Network Support Package

Kinship Allowance

Funding is available to kinship families with a Special Guardianship Order, Child Arrangements Order or Residence Order. Eligibility criteria applies.

Practical support is available for extended family members to help keep child at home.
