Supported internships are a further education course. They are for young people aged 16 to 24 with an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP). It gives young people extra support.
Most of the learning happens at a workplace. It lets a young person get hands on experience doing a specific job. This can help them:
- learn skills need for a job
- build their confidence
- help them become more independent
There is no guarantee of a job at the end. However, it can help when looking and applying for a job.
Visit colleges and training centres to find places that offer supported internships. You can then visit their website for full details.
