Mainstream schools

The majority of children and young people go to mainstream schools. School staff are trained to teach and support for students with many different needs. This includes students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Every school will have an SEND Policy and a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). You can find this information on the school's website.

We have two different schooling systems in Newcastle. The only real difference is the age a child can attend. All of these schools deliver the same high-quality education.
