0-19 Service

The health visiting and school health service is made up of a mixture of professionals:

  • Health visitors
  • public health school nurses,
  • community staff nurses,
  • nursery nurses,
  • school health workers
  • nursing associates.

If you or your child have questions at any time from when your child is born to age 19 you can call for support. The number to call is 0191 282 3319 to talk about the support your health visitor or school nurse can offer.

Your GP

Your GP can treat many conditions and give health advice. visit the NHS website to can find out how to register with GP if you are not already registered. 

Your local pharmacy

You can use find a pharmacy to see where your nearest pharmacy is. 

You can ask your pharmacist for advice about lots of common issues from colds and flu to teething and skin rashes. 

Some pharmacies will also offer services like contraception and support to stop smoking.
