Most students with SEND go to a mainstream school or setting. Find out how they are supported and what support can look like.

Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP)

An EHCP is given to some children and young people with additional needs. It is needed when the support schools and settings can give is not enough.

These are guides used by professionals. They help identify the level of need of a child or young person, and suggests appropriate support.

SEND Support Services

Schools and settings can request support from our council services. Get help and advice from qualified teachers, or request more funding for a student.

Some students can't attend school so need be get their education in another way. Find out when this can happen and how you can be supported.

SEND funding

We fund provision and support for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The way funding is given depends on their educational setting and level of need.

School attendance and absence

Our Access and Inclusion Team supports families and schools when children and young people are not attending school. Not attending school can happen for lots of different reason.
