How we deliver
Roots to Health - A youth work lead course which results in a Level 1 Award in Practical Horticulture (City and Guilds). The young people decide on what they want to grow and the work they would like to do. We then fit this into the relevant modules so that they young people are able to complete work that interests them while still gaining the qualification. One half day per week for 12 weeks.
Roots to health and happiness - 6-7 week early intervention sessions for children and young people experiencing low level mental health concerns which might be causing challenges with school attendance. Sessions are targeted towards children who have between chronic and persistent absence, but are open to other young people where appropriate. Sessions are run from our children’s community allotment with a focus on nature, horticulture, creativity and self-reflection.
One to one support - Working with young people to offer one to one support help them to tackle their mental health concerns and challenges. Our youth workers will meet with the young people and their parents and carers and set 2-3 aims or targets the young people would like to address with the sessions. These sessions would run over a maximum of 12 weeks, with an additional 2 weeks available for initial meetings and making plans. 2 review meetings would also be offered in addition to the 12 sessions.
How we report attendance
We keep attendance records which can be shared with schools and the local authority as necessary.
