Further and higher education

All children between the ages of 16 and 18 must continue in education or training. This is called Further Education. It can take place at a:

  • sixth form in a secondary school
  • college
  • specialist colleges
  • workplace.

You can find information about Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support on their websites.

For 16 to 24 year olds with an EHCP, a supported internship is a great option.

After further education, you or your child might decide to go to university. This is called higher education.

Visit our further and higher education page for more details.
