Early Years SEND Outreach Service

The Early Years SEND Outreach Service is made up of specialist teachers and nursery nurses. We support very young children with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

The work we do includes:

  • working with other professionals such as physiotherapists and speech and language therapists to provide joined‑up support
  • running early intervention groups designed to help children develop their skills in a supportive, collaborative environment
  • visiting families at home to offer advice on play, learning, and understanding future education options
  • supporting children in early years setting
  • providing training, advice, and support to staff in early years settings
  • offering training sessions for parents and carers to helping them understand and support their child’s needs

How do we support children in early years settings?

We work closely with nursery staff to:

  • share advice
  • demonstrate strategies
  • help put the right support in place.

This might include working directly with children for short sessions. This could be one to one or in small groups. We would also show staff how to continue these approaches in the setting.
