Financial help and alternatives
Students aged 16 to 19 in mainstream education do not usually qualify for SEND transport assistance. Schools and colleges administer the 16 to 19 Bursary Fund, which may help with travel costs for eligible learners. National eligibility rules are set by the DfE, and students should contact their education provider for details.
Further information about the 16–19 Bursary Fund, including eligibility criteria, can be found at 16 to 19 bursary fund.
