Examples of Behaviour Action Consequences
Category 1
  • Low-level behaviours to include: Inappropriate talking, distracting others.
  • Failure to follow instructions.
  • Not showing kindness and respect to others e.g., Saying unkind things, causing upset
  • Being unsafe e.g. distracting driver, being unseated
  • Reminder of SEND Transport expectations and the values kindness and respect. 
  • Remind students of potential consequences. 
  • Warning and reminder of Behaviours for Learning Checklist
  • Apologise verbally/actions in writing or with a picture.

 

Category 2
  • Repeatedly disrupting others. 
  • Inappropriate conversations/ language. 
  • Lack of respect for people/property.
  • Any category 1 behaviour that consistently continues or escalates. Use of offensive language. Hurting an adult or student on purpose physically.
  • Intentionally causing damage to property on purpose e.g., ripping materials, scratching surfaces.
  • Attempting to leave the vehicle
  • Restorative conversation with teacher or parent/carer present.
  • Follow-up conversation SEND Transport Team and appropriate stake holders.
  • Ask for further support from school and home.
  • Parents/carers informed (email/ phone call). 
  • If appropriate student moved position on transport.
Category 3 – Transport Officer / Senior Transport Assistant to use their professional judgement based on the individual circumstances of the case when considering whether to suspend travel.
  • Any category 2 behaviour that consistently continues or escalates.
  • Inappropriate/offensive language. 
  • Being rude. 
  • Shouting.
  • Constant disruption 
  • Not being safe. 
  • Hurting someone.

 

  • Complete a risk assessment and or behaviour plan.
  • If appropriate student moved position on transport.
  • If appropriate tidy any mess/fix any damage caused. 
  • Discussion with parents/carers. 
  • Add to incident log.
Category 4 – Transport Officer / Senior Transport Assistant to use their professional judgement based on the individual circumstances of the case when considering whether to end travel.
  • Any category 3 behaviour or continuing persistent unacceptable behaviour which has not successfully stopped.
  • A one-off serious breach of Behaviour Policy. 
  • Threatening behaviour against a student or adult.
  • Extreme reaction to a situation. 
  • Deliberately hurting someone. 
  • An immediate danger or significant damage to property. 
  • An immediate danger to self or others.
  • Bullying
  • Racism
  • Repeated or serious verbal abuse
  • Use of an offensive weapon
  • Serious theft
  • Serious deliberate damage to vehicle equipment or personal belongings
  • Restorative conversation with appropriate stake holders present.
  • Parent meeting arranged with Transport Officer/Senior Transport Assistant.

 

  • Transport Officer/Senior Transport Assistant support.
  • Discussion with parents/carers. 
  • Review of risk assessments and behaviour plans.
  • Fixed term suspension with temporary Personal Travel Budget offered.
  • Permanent exclusion and a Personal Travel Budget offered.

Applied with the understanding of the age and understanding of the student and any Special Educational Needs the student may have.
