Appendix 1
Negative or disruptive behaviours will be managed in one of the two ways. Where a behaviour is related to the students need or disability, we will look at what is not working for them. Where the behaviour is considered, and the student understands what they are doing and the impact of their actions on the safety and wellbeing of others a disciplinary route may result in the student being removed from transport either for a set period or indefinitely.
Step 1 – A phone call will be made to school to request staff to speak with student in relation to their behaviour. A phone call will be made to parent/carer to inform of the incident and a Stage 1 Warning letter sent to their correspondence address.
Step 2 – Incident reports recorded and investigated by the SEND Transport team. Any necessary adjustments to identify, pre-empt and meet the needs of the student going forward. For example, to complete risk assessments or amend seating plans or staffing to meet the needs of the student/s and the service.
Step 3 – If further incidents keep occurring Behaviour Stage 2 warning letter will be issued – Transport withdrawn from student for one week. A Personal Travel Budget will be offered.
Step 4 – Behaviour Stage 3 – If further incidents occur transport will be withdrawn from student for one month. A Personal Travel Budget will be offered.
Step 5 – Behaviour Stage 4 – Transport withdrawn from student until the end of the academic year, at which time a review for transport can be requested by the parent/carer. It is very rare we get encounter a behaviour stage 4. At this stage it is deemed we cannot safely transport the student, and a Personal Travel Budget will be offered.
